Course Length: ~45 minutes

Articulate Rise Course: Lesson Previews

Sacred Fires, a newly established non-profit, aims to teach Native American traditions to individuals interested in preserving these customs. The organization faced challenges in educating volunteers on traditional fire-keeping during ceremonies. Volunteers frequently accompanied the founder to ceremonies but were often unfamiliar with the traditional and practical aspects of fire-keeping, requiring constant guidance. This need for continuous oversight hindered the ceremonies’ flow and the volunteers’ confidence in their roles.

The challenge was to create a user-friendly, engaging e-learning course that would educate volunteers on the intricacies of traditional fire-keeping. The course needed to ensure that volunteers could independently follow traditions and practical steps, reducing the founder’s need to oversee every detail and enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the ceremonies.

Developed a comprehensive e-learning course using Articulate Rise to educate volunteers on both practical and traditional aspects of fire-keeping for Sacred Fires ceremonies. The course includes lessons on three types of Native American traditions in ceremonies, ensuring volunteers can independently follow and respect these customs.

Applied instructional design principles to create an engaging and user-friendly experience. The interactivity features a Storyline block explaining firewood, a labeled graphic block where learners click on different parts of an image to learn about each item, scenario-based sample quiz questions, and a quiz after each topic. Additionally, the course includes informative videos with step-by-step instructions.

The successful implementation provided volunteers with the necessary knowledge and confidence to assist in ceremonies without requiring constant guidance, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the events.
